The RSPO trademark

The RSPO Trademark is a globally recognised ecolabel used by members to highlight their commitment to the principles of the RSPO.

The RSPO Label provides a quick and easy way for consumers to identify products made with RSPO Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO), helping to make informed purchasing decisions.

Benefits of using the RSPO Trademark and/or RSPO Label

  • Represents a seal of commitment to sustainability and transparency.
  • Enables companies to demonstrate that they are responsibly protecting the environment, improving social and labour practices in oil palm plantations, and positively assisting with wildlife conservation.
  • Enables consumers to easily identify the brands that are sourcing sustainably produced palm oil for their products.
  • A way to boost demand for sustainable palm oil and increase market uptake, thereby incentivising growers in palm oil producing countries to keep up their standards and level of commitment. In the long run, both producers and users will benefit economically from a higher demand for sustainable palm oil.

RSPO Labels

Below are the RSPO Labels you may find on products you purchase that contain RSPO Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO). Please read below for how an organisation can legally use the RSPO Label on their product. For more layout and language options of the RSPO Label, please view the RSPO Rules on Market Communications & Claims 2022.

Identify Preserved & Segregated

RSPO Certified Sustainable Palm Oil from a single or different identifiable certified source(s) that is kept separately from ordinary palm oil throughout the supply chain.

Mass Balance

RSPO Certified Sustainable Palm Oil from certified sources that is mixed with ordinary palm oil throughout the supply chain.

RSPO Credits

Manufacturers and retailers can buy RSPO Credits and RSPO Independent Smallholder Credits from RSPO Certified growers, crushers and independent smallholders. By purchasing RSPO Credits, buyers encourage the production of Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO). An RSPO Credit represents one tonne of palm oil product in the sense that for every credit bought, a premium goes to the producer that has put its efforts in making sure one tonne of palm oil is produced according to the RSPO P&C. In order to continue providing economic incentives to growers, we need the flexibility of the Mass Balance supply chain to provide growers increased access to international markets.
