The RSPO Secretariat is excited to announce the launch of the PalmGHG V5 Pilot Testing phase.

What is PalmGHG V5?

PalmGHG V5 will be the latest version of the RSPO PalmGHG Calculator, developed by the RSPO Greenhouse Gas Working Group 2 (GHGWG2), to allow oil palm growers to estimate and monitor their Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions to meet Indicator 7.10.1 (C) of the 2018 RSPO Principles and Criteria (P&C).

PalmGHG V5 will be integrated into prisma, RSPO’s platform for certification, trade, and traceability. This system brings together RSPO stakeholders in one collaborative space, streamlining information management and enhancing efficiency. The integration  aims to improve alignment and accountability, significantly enhancing the PalmGHG V5 user interface and experience.

Key Updates of PalmGHG V5
  • Continuous updates to  align with GHG Protocol Standards, including Land Use Change (LUC) emission and additional components under scope 1, 2, and 3 reporting.
  • Revised Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) emission and conservation methodology.
  • Updated emission factors and default values, where necessary.
Why Participate in the Pilot Testing?
  • Contribute to Industry Improvement: Help us fine-tune the tool by providing valuable feedback on the calculator’s completeness, accuracy, and usability.
  • Stay Aligned with Market Requirements: Assist us in aligning the PalmGHG V5 calculator with international standards and frameworks related to GHG reporting.
How the Pilot Testing Works?

Registered participants will undergo a screening process by the RSPO GHGWG2 to ensure targeted and valuable feedback. Only selected participants will receive the PalmGHG V5 calculator, exclusively in an Excel format, along with a feedback form. The selected participants will have approximately 1 to 1.5 months to submit timely feedback on the tool’s performance and usability.

Confidentiality

All participants will be required to sign a non-disclosure declaration form, ensuring all materials shared, including the PalmGHG V5 Excel document, remain strictly confidential and intended solely for those involved in this pilot testing.

All feedback will be treated as confidential and aggregated to identify key improvement areas for PalmGHG calculator.

Expectation of Active Participation

Your feedback is essential to the development of the PalmGHG calculator, guiding improvements both in this round and future updates. We value participants who can provide timely and constructive input to enhance the tool.
