The Cote d’Ivoire National Interpretation (Cote d’Ivoire NI) of the RSPO Principles and Criteria (P&C) 2018 was endorsed by the Board of Governors (BoG) on 25 June 2020. The Cote d’Ivoire NI and Mexico NI 2020 supersedes the previous standard document, which was previously being used for certification of plantations and mills in these two producing countries.
The NI’s for Cote d’Ivoire and Mexico has been developed by the Cote d’Ivoire NI working group and Mexican NI working group, with balanced representation from all stakeholder groups. Numerous physical meetings were held prior to finalising the document and in compliance with international best practices, public consultations have also been held to create awareness and gather feedback and comments on these NI documents.
Prior to endorsement by the BoG, the document was reviewed by the RSPO Secretariat and submitted to the RSPO Standards Standing Committee (SSC) for approval. The endorsed Cote d’Ivoire NI and Mexico NI document is effective immediately and is available for download here. All Certification Bodies and members are required to use the document for all audits conducted after the release of this announcement.
