The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a global, non-profit organisation with voluntary members working to transform the palm oil industry to make it sustainable. We are focused on bringing together stakeholders from across the palm oil supply chain to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil.

The Assistant Manager will be responsible for finding and reaching out to new prospect members thus strengthening RSPO’s presence in Europe. He/she/they will also support the Manager Europe and the rest of the European team in the management of a membership pipeline and their engagement with existing members to increase the uptake of Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO). He/she/they will also be responsible for producing market reports, data and visuals based on Mintel and other databases which the team can use for strategy development and presentations. He/she/they will also be involved in the organisation of the annual Sustainable Palm Oil Dialogue and other events as designated by the line manager.

The location of this role is Netherlands, Europe.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Engage with stakeholders within Europe, primarily potential members and stakeholders that have the ability to drive the market
  • Identify key companies in the region and key individuals within the companies to establish relationships with the relevant individuals ensuring these companies recognise their obligations as corporate citizens as well as the business case for sustainable production and consumption, and meaningful community engagement.
  • To keep abreast of regional economic and business and market trends to provide the team with data, reports and visuals which can facilitate conversations with stakeholders.
  • Onboarding New Members
  • Dealing with inquiries related to membership, certification, trademark with the coordination of respective dept and Assurance Manager EU from members
  • Providing data, analysis and report using available tools  enabling informed decision making and strategy development
  • Participating at trade-shows, webinars, on-line events within Europe or for European members
  • Apart from the duties stated above, to perform any duty or duties reasonably assigned.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, sales or another relevant subject.

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sales and/business or business development in Europe
  • Formal training in the efficient harvesting and use of data is an asset.

Technical and Professional Knowledge

  • Ability to work independently, and a demonstrated   ability to recognise opportunities to identify potential members and get them interested in RSPO membership.
  • Experience with setting up and maintaining sales/membership pipelines.
  • Strong commercial and communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word,  PowerPoint)
  • Experience with the use of commercial databases to identify business opportunities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and interact with different stakeholder
  • Experience of working in an international organisation is an asset
  • Professional experience in an Asian country or business environment is an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required other European languages are considered assets.
