The Remediation and Compensation Procedure (RaCP) was endorsed by the Board of Governors on 16th November 2015. At the time of endorsement, the following Annexes were still in preparation:

  • Annex 3: LUCA Guidance
  • Annex 4: Land Use Cover Reporting Checklist
  • Annex 9: Monitoring Report Template

While Annex 9 is still being developed, the Biodiversity and High Conservation Value Working Group (BHCVWG) has completed Annex 3 and Annex 4. These Annexes serve as guidance documents to conduct the LUCA required under the RaCP.

Each Annex is made up of two parts:

Annex 3:

  • Annex 3: LUCA Guidance Document
  • Annex 3a: LUCA Reporting Template

Annex 4:

  • Annex 4: LUCA Reporting Checklist Table
  • Annex 4a: Land Cover Interpretation Examples

You can download both Annexes from the Supplementary Materials page. The LUCA Guidance document (Annex 3 and Annex 4) will enter into force on 13 September 2017.  All grower members are given a 3-month transition period to conduct LUCA based on the Annexes.

What does this mean for growers ?

a) Ongoing LUCAs

Growers who are currently undergoing the LUCA process using the previous guidance do not need to use Annex 3 and Annex 4.

b) New LUCAs within the transition period (13 September – 13 December 2017)

Growers can choose to conduct the LUCA based on the previous guidance, or adopt the LUCA guidance (Annex 3 and Annex 4).

c) New LUCAs after 13 December 2017

Beginning 14 December 2017, the use of Annex 3 and Annex 4 is mandatory and the previous guidance will be deemed obsolete.

Please contact [email protected] or [email protected] if you have any questions regarding the LUCA guidance.
