RSPO CEO Darrel Webber delivered a powerful message at the EURT '17 amidst growing concern over companies facing pressure to choose short-term shareholder-focused approaches for sustainability solutions over more inclusive and economically successful long-term strategies. He emphasized the RSPO culture of seeking long-term local solutions within a global context and highlighted the need to balance sustainability with palm oil production as a tool for economic diversification and poverty alleviation to maximize inclusiveness and transform mainstream markets. As global agents of change for not only palm oil but sustainability in general, collaboration and a long-term vision of a greener future are key to accomplishing the RSPO’s mission.
