Palmas del Ixcan Limitada has proposed a new planting area located in Palmas Del Ixcan which is located in in the Departments of Alta Verapaz, Petén and Quiché, in Guatemala. The Summary report of this area called Palmas Del Ixcan New Planting Assessment is now undergoing the 30 days public Notification as required by the RSPO New Planting Procedure 2015.

Update: 2 May 2024

Exclusion of proposed new planting area from the previously approved new planting procedure

On 25 April 2024, Palmas del Ixcán informed the Secretariat that there will be a change in the new planting plan that was approved on 9 June 2019.
The company had earlier proposed for new planting of 408 hectares in total.
However, due to the distance and complexity of transferring to mills and the effect of regular winter floodings, the company has decided to exclude a total of 159 hectares, citing different parcels and managing communities, from the new planting plan and its future supply chain.

The NPP area for this application now stands at 249 hectares.
The Secretariat accepted the company’s explanation and will remove any NPP data in its system related to the removals since it is no longer part of the Palmas del Ixcán’s new planting plan.
