RSPO Statement on IOI and the Greenpeace actions in Rotterdam

Kuala Lumpur, 27 September 2016 - Today Greenpeace has undertaken a series of actions to block the facilities of IOI at the Port of Rotterdam, to raise the public attention on the fires burning the Indonesian rainforest and threatening endangered species such as orangutans. The haze from these fires has been drifting across to Singapore, Malaysia and other countries in Southeast Asia.

Chinese consumers get a (romantic) taste of sustainable palm oil

For the first time in China, the RSPO held its consumer-oriented “Say Yes to Sustainable Palm Oil” campaign in Beijing and Shanghai in collaboration with City Shop. In line with China’s Qixi Festival, otherwise known as the Chinese Valentine’s Day, the romantically-themed activities introduced sustainable palm oil to shoppers and encouraged them to support sustainable palm oil through concrete action.

Big changes afoot for the Book and Claim model: What you need to know and do

From 1 January 2017, RSPO will no longer endorse GreenPalm certificates, which support the Book and Claim model. Instead, the model will be supported by the trade of RSPO Credits through the UTZ platform, to facilitate easy switching between the four supply chain models. The result? It will no longer be possible for the GreenPalm logo to be used to make a claim associated to RSPO, with a phase-out period. World’s single largest independent smallholder group receives RSPO certification

With support from Wilmar International Limited’s (Wilmar) subsidiary, PT Tania Selatan, and financial assistance from the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) Smallholder Support Fund, a group of more than 2,700 independent smallholders covering 5,500 hectares (ha) in South Sumatra, Indonesia, received the RSPO certification on 16 June 2016, making it the world’s largest individual group of independent smallholders ever to be certified.

International, June 9, 2016 – The 2016 results of the RSPO Annual Communication of Progress (ACOP), announced today at the RSPO EU Roundtable event in Milan, confirm an increase in commitments to certified sustainable palm oil. In 2016 the number of ACOP submissions by RSPO members increased to 75%, compared to 68% in 2015.
