The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) has achieved a momentous milestone – exceeding 4,000 members, from 92 countries!
RSPO has come a long way from its inaugural meeting in Malaysia in 2003, with a respectable 200 participants attending from 16 countries. As of 11 October 2018, RSPO membership reached 4,024 members from almost half the countries on the planet.
Furthermore, we saw North America, an important and fast-growing emerging market for sustainable palm oil overtake Germany in terms of total RSPO membership, with 467 members.
Making sustainable palm oil the norm
“I’d like to congratulate all RSPO members for their effort and commitment towards our shared vision of making sustainable palm oil the norm,” said RSPO Chief Executive Officer, Darrel Webber.
“Before we look ahead at the work that still remains with the proposed new RSPO Principles and Criteria (P&C) and RSPO Smallholder Standard, let’s take a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come.”
“Congrats again to all the members who make up the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil”.
