Organisation's Commitments Toward Sustainability

  • How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
JSS (and Acme) are already very supportive of a renewable and sustainable product portfolio and each level of employee from executive to office administrator is eager for the RSPO certification process. It is well known within our company how important the sustainability of palm is to our business and as a company we want to support that effort any way we can.
  • Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
Quite a few of Acme?s customers are already requesting RSPO certified palm oil. This is one of the many reasons we are starting this RSPO certification process. New marketing materials will inform customers that we can provide them with RSPO certified palm oil, and our sales force is well equipped with knowledge to reach out to their customers and inform them of the benefits of purchasing this palm oil.
  • Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
Our main supplier, Palm Oleo, is already certified by RSPO in Mass Balance. This is the supply chain certification that Acme is interested in pursuing. There have been discussions with other suppliers we currently use of their RSPO membership status. Any new suppliers being assessed for buying approval go through an audit/questionnaire, and RSPO membership and certification is one of the questions on the list.
  • Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
Renewable and sustainable products are Jacob Stern & Sons (JSS) and Acme's main focus in meeting our customers' needs. We have a Sustainability platform in place that encompasses not only the products we import and sell, but the way our supply chain operates and the raw materials that go into the products we buy and sell. At a recent sales meeting with the Acme sales force, our executives advocated for RSPO and the benefits that go along with that membership and supply chain certification. Establishing our supply chain as RSPO certified will not only align with our promise of providing renewable and sustainable products to our customers, but it will also meet requirements from some of our key customers who are demanding that the material they purchase be RSPO certified.
