Organisation's Commitments Toward Sustainability

  • How will your organisation promote the RSPO internally and to other stakeholders?
As one of the largest palm oil processors, COFCO is always an ardent supporter and strong practitioner of sustainable palm oil development. To comply with RSPO Code of Conduct, COFCO will subscribe to membership commitments by working pro-actively towards the production and promotion of sustainable palm oil.
  • Where relevant, what processes is the organisation establishing to engage with interested parties, for example to resolve conflict or to use sustainably produced palm oil?
As a critical part of the entire supply chain of palm oil, COFCO seeks to establish partnerships with traders with RSPO membership. How to purchase and sell sustainably produced palm oil are two primary jobs in adhering to RSPO Codes. For example, COFCO urges its suppliers to provide certified palm oil and then refineries can provide certified palm oil to food manufacturers. This is no easy task especially when there isn?t sufficient supply of certified palm oil. COFCO is looking forward to deeper cooperation with RSPO and palm oil suppliers with RSPO membership.
  • Where relevant, how will your organisation work towards implementing the RSPO Principles and Criteria or assessing supplier performance against these criteria?
COFCO will take full commitment to transparency, environmental responsibility and conservation of natural resources and biodiversity and other principles of RSPO. For example, a forum among suppliers will be held in foreseeable future to discuss sustainable palm oil. Also, a detailed supplier assessing system will be established with strong regards to RSPO performance of suppliers. Those that perform better against RSPO criteria will be given priority in supplier list.
  • Any other information that would support the application such as what your organisation hopes to gain from joining RSPO and how it would support RSPO?
COFCO would like to seek assistance from RSPO in finding sustainable palm oil supply on market. And COFCO will actively and constructively communicate and support the continuation of the Roundtable process and the implementation of Roundtable projects. Promote the RSPO and sustainable palm oil production, procurement and consumption.
