Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 31 January 2024: The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil is pleased to unveil the name and logo of its new certification, trade and traceability system – PRISMA, which stands for “Palm Resource Information and Sustainability MAnagement”.  Aimed at enhancing trade and compliance to meet current and emerging global regulations,  PRISMA embodies the core functions and interdependability of the new traceability system. As a platform that converges RSPO stakeholders in a single point of collaboration, it organises information and optimises efficiency, enhancing alignment and accountability. The focus on standardisation of audit reports within Prisma’s certification module enables better data analytics, improving adherence to the RSPO Standards to overall provide a dynamic and responsive framework to adapt to the evolving the global sustainability landscape.

Like a prism that disperses light into a spectrum of colours, PRISMA encompasses a range of sustainability components within the palm oil sector’s multistakeholder supply chain. A symbol of RSPO’s collective commitment to sustainability, it depicts how various elements can come together to create a more sustainable future for the palm oil industry.

Inspired by the importance and versatility of the oil  palm fruit, the PRISMA logo depicts a palm leaf encasing the palm kernel. The design symbolises RSPO’s commitment to leading a global partnership to make palm oil sustainable, and represents the symbiotic relationship between agriculture and technology, signalling a deeper commitment to promoting the advancement of the sector.

“Together with our partners, the RSPO remains firmly committed to advancing the sustainable palm oil industry through innovative solutions. Our focus on certification, trade, and traceability is aimed at future-proofing RSPO, ensuring not just compliance with today’s standards but also readiness for the evolving elements of sustainability”, said Nikki Gee, Chief Strategy and Digital Transformation Officer, RSPO.

Expected to go live in the last quarter of 2024, the development of the platform is being led by Singapore-based agritech firm, Agridence, alongside NGIS, which is providing the system’s geospatial risk assessment capabilities.
