The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a global, non-profit organisation with voluntary members working to transform the palm oil industry to make it sustainable. The Manager, Finance (Trade Management) will be responsible for managing the operations of the Trade Management Unit primarily on trades of certified sustainable palm oil and RSPO credits on the RSPO’s certification, trade and traceability system called prisma. The role will involve managing the full spectrum of financial activities, including financial reporting and analysis, debtor management, compliance with tax regulations, and optimising financial performance.

The location of this role is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but will not be limited to the following:

Trade Management Operation

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Trade Management (TM) Unit, ensuring efficiency and accuracy of all financial transactions.
  • Supervise the TM Accounts Receivable (AR) function, ensuring timely collection of receivables and effective management of outstanding debts:
    • To ensure accurate invoicing of all trade transactions and compliance with relevant tax and e-invoicing requirements.
    • To be the focal person for AR related matters and coordinate with outsourced TM team and/or prisma helpdesk to ensure timely resolutions of issues and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
    • To monitor and resolve any debtor dispute or operational issues that may arise in a timely manner.
    • Analyse accounts receivable aging reports and implement strategies to reduce overdue accounts.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of RSPO Credit trade settlements, including verifying transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring timely execution of payments to sellers.
  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls to ensure compliance with all relevant financial policies and procedures for TM operations
  • Manage banking relationship and be the lead liaison with the bank for any matters relating to receipts, payments and compliance requirements for TM.
  • Maintain TM modules in prisma, along with related functions in Salesforce and Certinia, ensuring that they are kept current and updated.

General Finance Operation

  • Manage month-end and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and adjustments.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and other relevant reports including financial performance, cash flow projections, variance analysis and financial projections.
  • Assist in the developing and managing annual budget financial forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, oversee the preparation and submission of annual income tax return, and manage indirect tax reporting such as Withholding Tax and Sales Service Tax.
  • Assist in the annual financial audits including the preparation of audit schedules and responding to audit queries.
  • Manage performance, provide guidance and support competency development for direct reports.
  • Providing feedback to CFO/Director for process/system automation and improvements by identifying potential areas for change or enhancement, such as e-invoicing requirements.
  • Apart from the duties stated above, to perform any duty or duties reasonably assigned.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT

Education

  • University degree in accounting and finance, with professional qualification as a qualified accountant.

Experience

  • At least 8-10 years’ experience in accounting, tax, audit and managing finance operations
  • Having experience in system implement and integration would be an added advantage
  • Preferably with relevant experience in using Salesforce and Certinia accounting software

Technical and Professional Knowledge

  • Familiar with all functional processes and activities
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
  • Fluent in English and Malay
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace (G Suite), and Office 365 including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, detail oriented and good organisational skills
