The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a global partnership to make palm oil sustainable. Today, the RSPO is a global, non-profit organisation with over 6,000 voluntary members across 104 countries and territories, representing every link in the supply chain: oil palm producers, palm oil processors and traders, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers, banks and investors, environmental or nature conservation non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and social or developmental NGOs.

The Director, Finance has overall responsibility for developing and implementing the financial strategy of RSPO. This role involves ensuring the effective allocation of financial resources, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and alignment of financial strategies with the organisation’s mission and long-term goals. The Director, Finance will lead the finance team, providing expertise in budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and financial risk management.
The location of this role is Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but will not be limited to the following:
- Develop and execute to financial strategies to support RSPO’s short-term and long-term goals.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the finance team to ensure efficient and effective financial operations.
- Oversee the development and implementation of annual budgeting and forecasting, and long-term financial plans.
- Monitor financial performance and provide regular financial updates and strategic insights to senior leadership, the Finance Committee and the Board of Governors.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, tax laws, and other regulatory requirements specific to RSPO and its subsidiaries.
- Oversee the preparation of annual financial statements and the alignment of audit outcomes with the organisation’s governance and policies.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to minimise financial and operational risks.
- Manage cash flow effectively and ensure sufficient funds for operational and strategic needs.
- Oversee investments in accordance with the organisation’s investment policy.
- In agreement with the Finance Committee and/or Board of Governors, the Director, Finance will assume the appointment as company director in the subsidiaries or legal representative of the branches and representative offices, of RSPO Secretariat Sdn Bhd.
- Any such duties reasonably assigned by the CEO/CFO.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
Education
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related fields.
- Professional qualification such as certified accountant by recognised accountancy bodies.
Experience
- Minimum 15 years of progressive financial management experience, including leadership roles.
- Proven experience in strategic planning, budgeting and risk management
- Experienced in staff development and fostering culture of collaboration and excellence.
Technical and Professional Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Expertise in financial modelling, forecasting and performance analysis.
- Good communication skills with the ability to covey complex financial information to non-financial audience.
- High level of integrity and professionalism, with strong leadership skills.
- Proficiency in financial management software or ERP and advanced skills in Excel.
