On 2 February, 2018, RSPO received an award for “Excellence for Promoting Sustainability in the Palm Oil Sector" in New Delhi, India. The award was handed over to RSPO by Arjun Ram Meghwal, the Union Minister of India – Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Parliamentary Affairs, at Globoil 2018 Delhi; one of India's largest events for the edible oils industry.
The award demonstrates excellence and the highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity, and social responsibility globally, in the development of sustainability standards. RSPO India Representative, Kamal Prakash Seth, received the award on RSPO’s behalf and addressed the audience about the opportunities and challenges for industries using palm oil in India. As the 'Sustainability Partner' for the event, RSPO also had a booth in the event’s exhibition area. It showcased the growing worldwide uptake of certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO) and the usage of the CSPO trademark on various day to day products. RSPO members including Sime Darby, Godrej, Emami Agrotech, Adani Wilmar, and WWF India also attended the event.
