At the 22nd RSPO General Assembly (GA22), on Wednesday 5 November, with a majority of 58.94%, RSPO Members approved a Resolution to postpone the mandatory effective date of the 2024 RSPO Principles and Criteria (P&C) until 31 May 2026.
The additional six months allows members to familiarise themselves with the 2024 RSPO P&C requirements, while attuning their internal processes to the enhanced and strengthened standard.
The resolution requests the Secretariat to provide official training for members, alongside the training that has already been made available for auditors. The Secretariat is committed to ensuring that such training is made available for any members that require it, as soon as possible.
The revised effective date will also allow for the 2024 RSPO P&C to be audited against the revised RSPO Certification Systems for P&C and ISH Standard, which will become effective for usage in audits from 14 May 2026.
RSPO Grower Members’ P&C Units of Certification (mill and supply bases) will continue to be certified or seek certification against the 2018 RSPO Principles and Criteria until 31 May 2026.
The 2024 RSPO Independent Smallholder (ISH) Standard comes into effect from 13 November 2025.
