Call for Tenders for Research on the Cost-Benefit Analysis of RSPO Certification for Smallholders in Malaysia

At RSPO, one of our key goals is to ensure that sustainable palm oil drives economic growth and development at local, regional, and national levels. Therefore, we are interested in determining how our strategies and interventions contribute towards this goal, through a cost-benefit analysis (CBA) of RSPO membership and certification, with a particular focus on oil palm growers who lie at the base of the palm oil value chain. This interest is further concentrated on smallholders, who manage up to 40% of the total oil palm planted area in the major producing countries of Southeast Asia.

In a recent Research Survey conducted by RSPO, the CBA of RSPO certification for smallholders has emerged as a key research priority that RSPO should focus on. It has also appeared as the main topic of interest among different stakeholder groups within RSPO.

Therefore, RSPO is now calling for tenders for research to evaluate the CBA of RSPO certification for different types of oil palm smallholders with a particular focus on Malaysia. The details of this study are outlined in the Terms of Reference below.

If you are interested in conducting this study, please submit your proposal to tender@rspo.org.  The closing date to submit proposals will be 18 February 2019 at 6:00 p.m. (MYT)
