In accordance with the RSPO Principles & Criteria (P&C) 2018, a Decent Living Wage (“DLW”) must be paid to all workers, including those on piece rate/ quotas, for whom calculation is based on achievable quotas during regular working hours. Elements in the calculation for DLW includes the cost of food, water, housing, education, healthcare, transport, clothing and other essential needs, including provision for unexpected events (“RSPO Endorsed Methodology”).
As such, the RSPO intends to engage a consultant to provide technical advice (“Advisor”) in relation to the implementation of DLW which includes the facilitation of the development of benchmarks for countries where its members operate through the engagement of local consultants in the respective countries. The Advisor will also be expected to provide advice to the RSPO on monitoring the process and progress of the benchmarking exercises.
In line with this, the RSPO is pleased to announce a call for applications from consultants to work together with the RSPO in realising its intent that the payment of Decent Living Wages to all workers in RSPO Certified Units. The criteria for this project have been set out in the Terms of Reference (“ToR”) which is attached with this announcement.
Interested applicants are advised to read and consider the ToR and to submit their expression of interest together with their profile, relevant expertise and proposed methodology on how they intend to take on this project.
