The RSPO High Conservation Value (HCV) mobile app for Independent Smallholders (ISH)1 — currently used by ISH groups as part of compliance2 with the requirements of the RSPO ISH Standard 2019 — has been updated.

The updated version of the HCV App is now available for download in the Google Play Store.

Please also be informed that the older version of the HCV mobile app will only be available up to September 2021 and will no longer receive further updates. By the end of September 2021, the old version of the app will be removed from the Google Play Store.

Updated HCV App

Bug fixes:

  • Data entry errors have been fixed

  • Easier scroll of survey questions enabled

New feature: Upload kml/kmz map files of farmer plots into the web dashboard

What does this mean for users of the existing version (older) app ?

  • There are no changes to the Group Manager dashboard and will function as usual. The access to the dashboard remains the same. Group Managers can use their existing Username and Password.

  • Users of the old version of the app would not be able to update to the new app directly. In addition, incomplete existing data surveys, i.e. unfinished and have not been transferred to the Group Manager dashboard, will not be migrated automatically.

  • To download the new app, users can go to the Google Play Store and look for the app with the new logo or you may use this link to search for the app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rspo.hcv

  • After installing the new HCV app, it is advisable to delete the old HCV app. Having 2 versions of the app on the same phone will raise issues.

Reminder:

Before migrating to the new version of the app, please ensure that you follow the steps below:

  1. Group Managers and Data Collectors(s) to check and make sure that all unfinished surveys in the old version are to be completed and transferred to the Group Manager dashboard.

Otherwise, all incomplete data stored in the app will be lost and cannot be retrieved.

  1. Group Manager to make sure that all survey data have been submitted to the dashboard and the transfer is fully completed before instructing Data Collector(s) to uninstall the old version of the app to install the new version on the smartphones.

For more information about the HCV app, please contact the RSPO Smallholder Unit at [email protected].

1For the purpose of the RSPO New Planting Procedure (NPP) 2021 application by smallholders, the RSPO HCV tool is also ap plicable to scheme/organised smallholder groups and/or independent growers (growers without a mill) who are seeking certification against the RSPO P&C through group certification.

2The HCV app was previously developed to assist ISH groups in carrying out the HCV assessment for compliance towards the P&C 2013 HCV requirements. With the adoption of the RSPO ISH Standard 2019, the HCV app is currently being used as part of the interim measure while the Simplified Combined HCV-HCS Approach is being developed as per the requirement in the RSPO ISH Standard 2019
