First RSPO China Members’ Day Strengthening Momentum for Sustainable Palm Oil

Shanghai, 21 April 2026：The first China Members’ Day of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) was successfully held in Shanghai. The event was jointly hosted by China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) and the RSPO Secretariat, bringing together over 120 representatives from across the value chain, including processors, traders, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers, banks, and investors.

Mr. Wang Huanxi, Assistant General Manager of China Quality Certification Centre, attended the event and delivered opening remarks. He noted, “CQC will continue to align with national priorities, deliver precise and high-quality services, and drive innovation-led development. By leveraging our role as a professional third-party quality and technical service provider, we aim to support the overall transformation and upgrading of the industrial value chain. We will also deepen collaboration with domestic and international stakeholders to contribute Chinese expertise and solutions to the sustainable development of the palm oil supply chain.”

Mr. Lifeng Fang, Head of China at RSPO, presented an overview of RSPO’s progress in the country. As of the end of 2025, RSPO membership in China had reached 529 members, with 474 sites certified under the RSPO Supply Chain Certification. According to the RSPO Impact Update 2025, China’s uptake of certified sustainable palm oil (CSPO) reached nearly 550,000 tonnes in 2024, accounting for 11.7% of the country’s total palm oil consumption. China has now emerged as one of the most influential markets globally for sustainable palm oil consumption.

Ms. Ruzita Abd Gani, Manager Supply Chain Certification at RSPO, provided a detailed briefing on the draft of the RSPO Supply Chain Certification Standard (SCCS). She also conducted a targeted public consultation of the draft standard with Chinese members to gather practical feedback from the local market.

In addition, dedicated training sessions were delivered on RSPO’s IT platform prisma, the Annual Communication of Progress (ACOP), and the latest Shared Responsibility requirements—supporting members in enhancing supply chain transparency and advancing sustainable trade practices.

The Members’ Day also featured interactive thematic workshops, where participants engaged in in-depth discussions on “Supply Chain Certification” and “Sustainable Palm Oil Trade and Consumption.” Drawing on real business challenges and practical experience, members exchanged insights on trade development and market promotion strategies for sustainable palm oil in China.

The successful convening of the first RSPO China Members’ Day marks an important milestone in fostering collaboration, strengthening capacity, and accelerating the transition towards a more sustainable palm oil market in China.
