Braden Group S.A – Palmas del Ixcán S.A has proposed a new development plan for its concession that covers an area of 559.96ha located inside its operational area in Magdalena & Mercedes management unit. The plantation properties are located in the Alta Verapaz Department, Municipality of Chisec, Republic of Guatemala.

The NPP verification of Palmas del Ixcán was conducted through document and field verification. IBD Lead auditor conducted a preliminary document review on September 16, 2019. This was followed up with a field verification visit to the proposed new planting area on November 25, 2019.

The Summary report of this area is now undergoing the 30 days public notification as required by the RSPO New Planting Procedure 2015.

Update: 17 April 2024

Exclusion of proposed new planting area from the previously approved new planting procedure

On 11 April 2024, Palmas del Ixcán informed the Secretariat that there will be a change in the new planting plan that was approved on 26 October 2020. The company had earlier proposed for new planting of 410.10 ha in the Magdalena management unit and 51.17 ha in the Mercedes management unit. However, due to the distance and complexity of transfer to the mill, the company has decided to exclude the Mercedes management unit from the new planting plan and its future supply chain. The Secretariat accepted the company’s explanation and will remove any NPP data in its system related to the Mercedes management unit.
