The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a global, non-profit organisation with voluntary members working to transform the palm oil industry to make it sustainable. We are focused on bringing together stakeholders from across the palm oil supply chain to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil.

The purpose of this position is to lead RSPO’s internal and multistakeholder activities involved in the effective design, development, revision, interpretation and maintenance of the RSPO Supply Chain Standard. This includes the applicable systems, procedures and stakeholder engagement necessary to drive positive impact across the palm oil supply chain through the sourcing and consumption of RSPO certified sustainable palm oil and palm oil products.

The location of this role is Netherlands, Europe.


Duties include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Lead and coordinate effective management of the development, review and revision of RSPO standards, focusing on the RSPO Supply Chain Certification (SCC) standard.
  • Manage, facilitate and coordinate the related and relevant multi-stakeholder working group and/or taskforce meetings overseeing the development, review and revision of RSPO Supply Chain Certification (SCC) standard.
  • Lead the functional and operational processes of revising and publishing the RSPO SCC standard, along with its systems and procedures, to emphasise relevance for sustainable palm oil chain actors.
  • Periodically review and identify issues and challenges in technical and practical implementation, and work closely together with other RSPO departments to develop solutions to ensure the standard/system is fit-for-purpose, consistent with global best practices or emerging issues, and incorporates future-proofing.
  • Work closely with RSPO’s Market Transformation teams on understanding market and supply chain issues in different geographies, as a process of continuous improvement for RSPO standards.
  • Provide technical support to members, external and internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with ISEAL’s Combined Code of Good Practice for Sustainability Systems.
  • Represent RSPO at conferences and events related to RSPO standards and requirements in the palm oil sector.
  • Conduct, oversee, outline, pilot, and analyse the applicability and/or feasibility of new technologies, system, tools and/or approaches to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of RSPO standards and their implementation.
  • Apart from the duties stated above, to perform any duty or duties reasonably assigned.



  • University degree in an appropriate field (Business, Economics, Logistics, Data, Sustainable Development or equivalance). Additional qualifications or certifications in the field supply chain management or procurement would be advantageous.


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in sustainability, certification standards or supply chain activities/operations.
  • Experience in the oleochemicals industry (or in any other industry with complex supply chains) would be advantageous.
  • Experience in internet research and database management.
  • Experience in and understanding of the dynamics of stakeholder engagement and process facilitation.
  • Experience working effectively with data in an analytical capacity and synthesising complex information.

Technical and Professional Knowledge

  • Management and leadership skills, including delivering outcomes through multi stakeholder processes.
  • Solid understanding of sustainability, environmental and social issues and standards
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and with the ability to learn other software applications quickly.
  • Professional knowledge in time management and resourcefulness.
  • Knowledge of third-party certification/ecolabelling schemes and their role in sustainability.


  • Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, negotiation, cross-team project management and consensus-building.
  • Adaptability and communication skills to work well across the organisation and with stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and be able to interact with diverse stakeholders.
  • High integrity and a good team player.
  • Good organisational and work planning skills, capable of multi-tasking on a wide range of topics.
