The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) is a not-for-profit, international membership organisation that is working to transform markets to make sustainable palm oil the norm. To do this, we have united stakeholders from all sectors of the palm oil supply chain and civil society to develop and implement global standards for sustainable palm oil production and procurement.

Since its inception in 2004, RSPO has enjoyed rapid growth and today has 5,000 members from 101 countries, including oil palm producers, processors, traders, consumer goods manufacturers, retailers, banks, and non-governmental organisations. Thanks to the commitments and actions of these members, nearly 20% of the global supply of palm oil has already been certified as sustainable.

The Manager, Event is responsible for spearheading the organisation’s physical, hybrid and online events including strategy, planning, organising and executing. These events will include but not be limited to, the Annual Roundtable Conference (RT), Press Conferences, the General Assembly (GA), Roadshows, Webinars and other member and stakeholder related events.

The location of this role is Malaysia.


Duties include but will not be limited to the following:

1. Work with the Head, Communications to develop a global event strategy and set of objectives; spearhead initiatives to meet these objectives based on lead generation, stakeholder advocacy, and more.
2. Develop an RSPO corporate events policy to establish strategic and innovative thinking to “connect the dots” around key event components including programming, presenters, locations, marketing and media support and overall “attendee” experience.
3. Work with Director of Stakeholder Engagement & Communications, and the Head, Communications to organise the content for RSPO global and regional events with the support of regional representatives where appropriate.
4. Support all Divisions with their events requirements and ensure consistency and compliance with the RSPO Brand and Standards.
5. Develop accurate budget forecasts and reconciliations including detailed explanation of variances.
6. Set, communicate and maintain timelines and priorities on every project:

  • Coordinate branded content design with the in-house designer to ensure all RSPO event displays and promotional materials are accurately aligned with the RSPO Brand. 
  • Manage the commissioning of, and tracking physical event inventory, of all RSPO event collateral, merchandise, and equipment. 
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, additional event organisers and designers to create marketing and branding materials for the event, when required.

7. Build new and leverage existing vendor relationships to maintain a high level of execution whilst meeting budgetary constraints. 
8. Perform effective vendor management to ensure alignment with market value for services rendered when:

  • Engaging an efficient and resourceful event company to handle large events;
  • Securing the best location based on budget, ability to execute, and logistics required.

9. Develop an event schedule that includes efficient time management of sessions, ensuring all presenters are briefed in advance, are provided with proper schedules and any audio visual facilities required are arranged.
10. Coordinate event communications with the Marketing & Communications and Digital Communications Units, ensuring the relevant information is disseminated to key stakeholders in a consistent manner. 
11. Perform post-event evaluation in order to improve the event planning and implementation process.
12. Work with relevant Secretariat staff to ensure all support functions work effectively together.
13. Identify and keep a calendar of other key events, roadshows and webinars for RSPO Leadership attendance, participation and speaking opportunities.


  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, business studies or hospitality management. 
  • At least 5 years working experience in event management.


  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, proof reading skills and speaking. 
  • Business proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia, additional languages are desirable. 
  • Excellent organisation skills and experience with project management.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and work assignments from a variety of divisions. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by phone with high professionalism. 
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to accomplish projects independently. 
  • Fantastic customer service ethics and high expectations for quality. 
  • Ability to lead others by influence and develop strong relationships across the organisation and with external stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish cooperation and rapport with internal and external parties of different backgrounds and/or nationalities.
  • High integrity, goal oriented and good team player.
