Snapshot: Overall CSPO Consumption and Uptake – Europe and North America surpasses 90% in 2024

Below are some of the crucial information that can be derived from the ACOP reporting which helps all stakeholders understand the market trend of CSPO. As we continue our shared journey towards 100% CSPO, we must remain committed to transparency, collaboration, and adaptability.

In 2024, despite economic challenges, global palm oil trade and refining by RSPO Members grew, with traded/processed physical CSPO volumes up 1.1%. RSPO Members currently process 76.8% of global palm oil consumption, indicating significant room for growth. Consumer Goods Manufacturers (CGMs) saw a 3% overall rise in CSPO consumption to over 8 million MT (Physical CSPO up 3.7%, Credits up 1.4%). Retailers reported stronger results, with CSPO consumption surpassing 1.5 million MT (up 2.8%), and uptake rising from 82% to 88%.

Despite a reduction in global palm oil consumption, CSPO uptake remained stable across regions, leading to a global uptake of 13.1% and total consumption of 10.1 million MT (+3%). Uptake exceeded 90% in Europe (excluding biofuels) and North America, while China’s consumption reached around 550,000 MT (11.7% uptake).

We look forward to your cooperation and hope you have a successful ACOP reporting year.
